Summer Show Cancelled

Fayetteville Comic Con, June 27 – 28, Cancelled Due to Venue Not Reopening in June
To our fans, friends, vendors, artists and guests,
Although our personal hopes were high that a two-month delay of our Spring Show from the end of April
to the end of June would bring us out from under quarantine, we have been informed today that this will
not be the case. Today, after weeks of closely monitoring the news and forecasts, the email came that we
were dreading. From our venue, the Crown Expo Center:
I wish I were writing with better news today. We have been closely monitoring the information
coming from Governor Cooper’s office and the phased approach to re-opening the State of North
Carolina. According to the plan, entertainment venues may begin to increase capacity
capabilities above the 10-50 person limits that are required in Phases 1 & 2 in Phase 3 while
maintaining social distance. The timeline to reach that Phase 3 milestone is a minimum of 6-9
weeks after entering Phase 1 this coming Friday. In essence, while this situation continues to
remain very fluid, we are not expecting to re-open the Crown Complex in any capacity until July
1, with social distancing requirements and guidelines, in July at the earliest. Spring Comic Con
will unfortunately not be able to take place on the rescheduled dates of June 27-28, 2020.”
Although not a surprise, it is a major disappointment as we were holding on to hope. We were the “last
con standing” prior to Independence Day. We were holding on to hope for you, our fans, as we also are
feeling the need to socialize with our convention family. We were holding on to hope for our vendors,
artists, and guests, as their income has been greatly diminished by not having the opportunity to sell or
appear at conventions. And we were holding on to hope for the sake of hope, as positivity was a
preferred mindset to the negativity that is surrounding this crisis.
While we would of course love to see this event rescheduled vs cancelled, we think that the focus should
be on the October Fayetteville Comic Con, with the hope that the risk to health is lessened and
guidelines loosened to the point that we can safely operate the show at that time.
Any tickets purchased for the spring show will be honored for the fall show, October 17th and 18th. If
you need to refund your ticket, please contact the Crown Expo Center Box Office at (910) 438 – 4100 or
the ticket outlet you purchased from. Again, your ticket will be honored for the fall show if you hold onto
Any vendors or artists who have paid for the Spring Show will be automatically re-registered for the fall
show, which will be capped at fewer vendors and artists as we wait for guidance from our venue on how
best to use the space if we still have some restrictions. If you need to cancel your Spring Registration
outright, be refunded for the Spring registration, contact Keith at
Note: This means a spot for the fall show may not be available. We will know final booths available later
in the summer, based on those already registered and any restrictions on spacing that the venue will
enforce. If you paid in full for both Spring and Fall, your Spring Registration will be refunded as soon as
possible. Please be patient, as we need to receive funds back from down payments on the venue.
Additionally, for Artists and Vendors, we are soon to launch the Fayetteville Comic Con Storefront, which
will give our fans a virtual shopping experience to all our artists and guests. Watch for more on this
announcement soon.
We are still planning to complete our TikTok Challenge and will be working to deliver virtual panels and
guest interaction over the next couple months.
Again, we are disappointed, but we promise to bring you the best October Show we can!
Pam, Mike and Keith
