William Hope

Born as a fifth generation Montrealer, William Hope joined the National Youth Theatre in London after high school and performed Shakespeare and new writing for three seasons with them. During that time, he began training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and decided to stick around in jolly old England after marrying one of his English classmates (still crazy after all these years and unbelievably proud of their two amazing adults who are their daughters!)

After graduation, he worked in theatre for seven years solidly, in addition to over 100 radio plays as a resident artist with the BBC Radio Drama Company before being seen in any TV or movies.  In the mid 80’s he was offered a major role in Stanley Kubrick’s “Full Metal Jacket” but passed on it for a lead in James Cameron’s Aliens (1986) as Lt. Gorman. The next ten years saw him regularly playing leading roles in many major regional, touring and West End theatre companies, often living in London as a base for family, while he began working more often in front of cameras.

His career to date includes over 120 art and indie films, mainstream international TV shows and numerous major Hollywood movies.  He is proud to have acted opposite and alongside many major artists in a huge range of projects (Michael Douglas, Sam Jackson, Woody Harrelson, Robert Downey, Johnny Depp, Wesley Snipes, James Cromwell, Matt LeBlanc, Idris Elba, Rachel Weisz…even Steven Seagal…another story!).

For American audiences he is best known in Aliens, Hellraiser II, Sherlock Holmes, Deep State (FoxTV) MI5 (BBC), and as many character voices in Thomas and Friends the global hit spin off of Thomas The Tank Engine.  More recently he’s been trying his hand at Performance Capture in Video games.  He has just appeared in the newest Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (Capcom), created a new lead role in Overkill’s Walking Dead (Grant), lead roles in Planet of the Apes: The Last Frontier and the seriously scary ALIEN: Isolation.

William has also recorded 100s of audiobooks, many of which will be found on Audible.  On 15 July 2020, Neil Gaiman’s epic cult graphic novel THE SANDMAN will be released on Audible.com ( https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/james-mcavoy-lead-sandman-audible-drama-1294222) with an all-star cast starring James McAvoy in which William plays the psychotic and v funny Dr. Destiny – John Dee in 6 out of 20 episodes before it gets made into a major TV series by Netflix/WarnerBros.
